Has anyone here subscribed to Netflix? I've looked at all of the info on their site, but I would like info from somebody who has actually used the service. Basically, is it worth it? Are there any problems that the website doesn't discuss?

I would agree with the first 2 on your list for sure Joel. I still would rank those shows above any other concerts I've seen. A couple of other great shows off the top of my head :

Jesus Lizard (Mainroom) I just remember that the music was awesome and David Yow was crazy.

Pixies (Roy Wilkins) I don't know how Adam felt about this show, but I thought it was among the best shows I've ever seen. They played for almost 2 hrs straight (usually something that would bore me, but was a good thing here), and they played almost every song I wanted them to play.

Archers of Loaf (7th St.) Many of my favorite bands have disappointed me live, but this show lived up to how much I like their recordings.

Fugazi (Mainroom) I think I'm getting to the point where I'm even forgetting things that happened in the recent past. Did we go to both of the back to back shows Adam? I only remember thinking that the show(s) was/were awesome.

One word, Ethan: quarantine.

I went to the Modest Mouse show on Friday in Portland. Actually not very good. There were like nine dudes on stage. There was so much going on that I couldn't hear anything. The only song I enjoyed was Ocean Breathes Salty. I thought a lot about when we saw them at the Whole in 1998 (it was 1998, right?). That show was incredible. And that got me to thinking of the best live shows I have seen. Here are my top four:

1. Braniac: the Whole (1995 or 1996?) -- The atmosphere, and Braniac's energy was really amazing. And they were playing incredible songs.
2. Modest Mouse: the Whole (1998) -- The Lonesome Crowded West sounded great played by a three piece in a tiny club. I still remember the sound of Doin' the Cockroach.
3. Guzzard: 7th Street Entry (whenever Quick, Fast and in a Hurry came out) -- It was like a homecoming or something. THe place was packed, and QFH was just released, and people were going nuts. Does anyone else remember that?
4. Shiner: 7th Street Entry (~2001)

In anticipation of The Life Aquatic, I thought I would post this link.

1. Check out the new season of Austin City Limits.

2. Look at a cell phone cover that will turn into a sunflower when thrown away.

3. I'm glad Pedro is leaving. I was sick of seeing his jerry curl anyways. Plus, now the Red Sox have Babe Ruth - I mean David Wells - so what are they worried about.
