Ethan, I agree with your observation. Unfortunately, Hollywood is addicted to the 180degree twist that makes you realize that you had no idea what you were watching. As near as I can tell, Usual Suspects made this popular, but Fight Club, Vanilla Sky, and the other movies you mentioned are certainly guilty of the same played-out formula.
Has anyone ever listened to the Constantines? I received their 2001 s/t album as a birthday present, and I LOVE IT!!!! They're from Canada, so I think that's why I haven't heard of them before. Am I alone?
