The Bu**sh** Regime
I suppose this is obvious, but the Bush administration has perfected an incredibly annoying and madening method of manipulating public opinion. First, they announce something that will further their goals or support an earlier claim. This usually sounds too good to be true. Then a short time later they are forced to admit that their first announcement was exagerated, mis-stated, or, as is often the case, untrue. This is usually blamed on faulty intelligence, an administrative error, or the British.

Examples:

1. On May 26, Ashcroft announces that an Al Qaeda spokesman has proclaimed that preparations for an attack on the US is now 90% complete. When it was later revealed (and by later I mean just two days later) that the "90%" announcement came not from Al Qaeda but from a discredited terrorist organization with no known militaristic capabilities, Ashcroft blamed the FBI. Of course, it didn't matter that the May 26 warning was incorrect, because the "retraction" got much less press, and the Bush administration had accomplished their goal of keeping everyone freaked out about terrorism in order to keep Amuhricuns behind their ridiculous was on terrah.

2. Late April. The State Dept. announces that terrorist attacks worldwide decreased in 2003 (thanks, no doubt, to the war on terrah). Surprise, surprise. The report was later found to be erroneous, and the Colin Powell admitted as much. Guess which story got more publicity? Guess which one the American public will remember? Guess who wants it that way?

Bush has got to go. Unfortunately, I think Kerry's going to have a really hard time pulling off a victory.

Automobile Album Covers
Thanks, Nolan. That's actually a good one. Now I just have to see if I can find a vinyl version of it. I've actually convinced Dana that the back of the Guzzard album is cool, so now we have the following:

1. Guzzard: Get A Witness (back)
2. Heatmiser: Cop and Speeder
3. Slint: Tweez
4. Hot Rod Circuit: If I Knew Now ... (Problem: can't find on vinyl)
5. Teenage Fanclub: Grand Prix (Problem: don't know if I can find on vinyl)

Others that might work:
God Head Silo: (the back of the black one) (Problem: a little too dark)
Guzzard: Death Race 2000 (back) (is that the name of it?) (Problem: Dana doesn't really like it)

Joel,
What do you think about the cover for Teenage Fanclub's Grand Prix album? That's the only one I can think of off the top of my head.

Hey, I'm looking for a little help. Dana (wife) and I are decorating our living "space." At my urging, we're framing LP covers. As a compromise, however, I can't just choose my favorite albums or my favorite album covers (which I had already done). Dana has recommended that there be a theme. We've settled on "cars."

We agree on the following:

1. Slint: Tweez
2. Heatmiser: Cop and Speeder
3. Hot Rod Circuit: It I Knew Now What I Knew Then

We have excluded the following:

1. Archers of Loaf: Vee Vee (fortunately)
2. Spoon: Series of Sneaks (unfortunately)
3. Guzzard: Get A Witness (the back) (unfortunately)

I need two more. Actually, I probably need three more because I can't fine Hot Rod Circuit's album in vinyl.

Do you guys have any suggestions? Do you know of any cool album covers with cars on them?
