I don't remember it if it was here, but did anyone buy or comment on the Sigur Ros CD last year? I recently bought it, and I think it's really good. It seems like a lot of people here would like it.

I will say this about the RHCPs:
1. To say that their success is purely image-driven is nonsense. I know people who absolutely LOVED Red Hot Whatever, and I myself really liked Mother's Milk and I owned it for a good portion of the 90s, although I realize they've kind of strayed from that sound. Even though I don't enjoy their funk sound, I totally respect Flea and the other musicians in the band, both as musicians and song-writers, and I totally understand why people enjoy their sound.
2. I really don't like anything they've done since Mother's Milk. But again, that's probably because I don't like funk. That doesn't mean I don't respect them, though.
3. The last video they did, where they were dancing amongst brightly colored industrial supplies, was one of the coolest videos I've ever seen. For sure.

Whoops. The review was of Spiderland, not Tweez. And here's what he said, exactly:
Only two other bands have meant as much to me as Slint in the past few years and only one of them, The Jesus Lizard, have made a record this good. We are in a time of midgets: dance music, three varieties of simple-minded hard rock genre crap, soulless-crooning, infantile slogan-studded rap and ball-less balladeering. My instincts tell me the dry spell will continue for a while- possibly until the bands Slint will inspire reach maturity. Until then, play this record and kick yourself if you never got to see them live. In ten years, you'll lie like the cocksucker you are and say you did anyway.
